1024×768 is one of the most popular resolutions for PC video screens.

The 1024×768 resolution was introduced as an enhancement to the Super VGA (SVGA) standard.

1024 is the horizontal resolution and represents the number of columns supported by the video card and monitor. 768 is the vertical resolution and represents the number of rows (or lines) supported.

1024×768 on the Web

As of 2006, OneStat reports that 56.15% of all web site visitors are using 1024×768 resolution. This makes 1024×768 the most popular screen resolution for web site visitors. As a result, many web site builders are designing their sites around the 1024×768 resolution.

1280×1024 follows in at a distant second place, with 15.79% of web site visitors. 800×600 is in third place at 12.04%.
