Android Video Players

An Android is a smartphone that Google created that combines the functionality of a cell phone and a computer. While the Android does not provide all of the same features as a computer, it includes many different applications that allow the user to perform a wide variety of tasks that the Android itself does not support. Some of the Android’s standard features include a built-in camera, Wi-Fi access, Bluetooth functionality, and the ability to store media players. While the Android itself does not feature a default media player, several media players that are available for the Android are listed below.

Vplayer

VPlayer is a media player designed for mobile devices that allows users to watch virtually all mainstream video formats such as AVI, MP4, MPEG, in addition to a wide variety of streaming video formats such as Flash. VPlayer is over 3 MB in size, but can be stored on an SD card and is available in both free trial and paid versions.

RealPlayer

Although RealPlayer was first designed for computer use, it is now able to run on portable devices such as the Android. Like VPlayer, RealPlayer is a 3 MB program, but cannot be stored on an SD card. However, in addition to playing a wide variety of video formats, RealPlayer is also able to play many audio formats such as MP3 and WAV, as well as image formats such as JPG.

Arc Media

ArcMedia is a beta-version of an upcoming media player for mobile devices such as Android. It is able to play a wide variety of video formats such as MOV, MP4, AVI, VOX, DIVX, XVID, MKV, WMV, and RMVB. While all of ArcMedia’s features are still unclear, it is ranked well amongst users who have been able to receive a copy of it.

mVideo Player

mVideo Player is a mobile media player specifically designed for the Android. mVideo Player is a 2.6 MB program that can be stored on an SD card, but is only able to play video formats that the user’s phone already supports and is mostly used to simply organize the user’s video files.
