Audiovox CDM-8200
The Audiovox CDM-8200 is an older candybar style phone. What it lacks in style and substance, it more than makes up for with its very cheap price tag. This is a great starter phone or for use as a backup device in the rare event that your main phone decides to die. Unless you do not currently have a backup cell phone you can use in emergencies, the Audiovox CDM-8200 is not recommended.
The Audiovox CDM-8200 is a CDMA phone for use in the United States and a few other places in the world. Roaming is also available via the AMPS analog network which is no longer available in the United States. Data is transferred via the CDMA2000 network.
Measuring in at approximately five inches by two inches by one inch, the Audiovox CDM-8200 is not exactly the smallest device you will see. However, it is light, weighing only 85 grams.
Unfortunately, the battery life in the Audiovox CDM-8200 is rather dismal. Expect to get only two hours of talk time or 160 hours of standby time on a single charge.
The Audiovox CDM-8200 comes complete with a black and white LCD that is capable of displaying seven lines of text.
Other features built into the Audiovox CDM-8200 include a 300 name capacity phone book, a speakerphone, an alarm, and a calculator.
Pros
- Relatively small and light
Cons
- No real features to speak of
- Terrible battery life
Overall
The Audiovox CDM-8200 would make for a fine backup cell phone if it actually had a decent battery life. It is unfortunate, that it does not. This phone is only recommended as a starter phone for someone who has never used a cell phone before. Otherwise, just buy something new from your cellular provider.
