The Audiovox CDM-8940 is Audiovox’s first EVDO phone. It has a megapixel camera which supports video capture. It has dual color displays on its clamshell format. It also supports streaming video playback. A mini SD memory card slot provides extra memory. It weighs in at a light 3.89 ounces and has a stub/extendable antenna. It has 210 minutes of talk time and nearly eight days of standby time provided by a 1100 mAh battery. Its display is LCD with a resolution of 176 by 220 pixels, supporting 262,144 colors. It has 64mb of built-in, flash memory with a phone book capacity of 300 entries.
It sports many other useful features as well. It has a flashlight and GPS. It has digital TTY/TDD accessibility for the hearing impaired. It has USB connectivity but lacks Bluetooth support. Up to five numbers can be saved for each contact, as well as email and notes. It has both picture and ring tone id. It also supports voice dialing. The Audiovox CDM-8940 allows for both custom ring tones and custom graphics. It has a web browser with Openwave WAP 2.0 software. It supports MMS and text messaging as well as T9 predictive text entry technology. It also sports a music player.

The primary selling point for the Audiovox CDM-8940 is its support for Verizon’s 3G EVDO network. Access to the network will run about $15 a month. The connection is fast and allows for the watching of videos as well as downloading games and the like. While not the best on the market, the Audiovox CDM-8940 is a great multimedia phone and is easy to use and comfortable to carry around.
