What is Automatic Gain Control?

Gain is a feature where a receiver increases the power of a received signal.

Automatic gain control is a feature where the amount of increase is adjusted automatically based upon the strength of the incoming signal.

Weaker signals receive more gain; stronger signals receive less gain or none at all.

Automatic gain control is abbreviated AGC.
