Green energy mobile phone battery boost

Monday, February 18th, 2008 | Posted in Mobile Phones | No Comments »

Strap-Ya comes ahead of the new “Green” wave, and provides you with this ’safe energy’ solution for your mobile devices. Besides its bulky and somewhat unattractive design, the device has to charge between 6-10 hours to provide extra 25 minutes of extra life. Not a very good deal if you ask me.

What it does is to charge an extra battery and then use it to power your phone when it’s own battery runs out. That means you can charge the extra battery at any AC adapter for 3 hours, and voila, you don’t have to stand in the sun for 6 hours.

Samsung wants Android phone

When Google announced Android, everybody was overexcited with the news and started dreaming (again) of a Google Phone.

For the moment rumors have it, that HTC will be responsible with creating the terminal, and of new, it seems Samsung wants to put out the market its very own Google Phone early 2009.

If all goes according to the plan, the terminal will be cheap, the main revenue source being the integrated ads. Besides the “Google Phone” was supposed to incorporate a GPS module and a Linux kernel. For the moment all that’s just rumor and the end-product might be quite different.

What’s certain is that Google will produce mobile terminals in the near future, and I don’t expect Google to fail in any way, given all the material support and brainpower the search engine giant can offer.

Nvida

Nvidia is a company ,well-known for their graphics chips that are currently dominating the markets, have decided to venture into the cell phone market.

As the amount of graphics and video enhanced phones hit the market, they think it’s time they add the old “Powered by Nvida” on them.

In other words, every self respecting gamer will probably want to have one of these chips in their phones.

Nvidia already has a chip dubbed the APX 2500 which is clocked at 750MHz and can decode 720p high-def video. Now that would be a powerful phone worth picking up. They report that they already have several customers lined up, but are reluctant to give out any names.

N96 leaked

Is this the real deal? With no Xenon flash in it, people have been really skeptical. But the sources for the release are strong.

Germans over at Nokia have posted the N96 specs on Nokia’s Germany product page. They are absolutely brilliant in bringing in new models every month making people struggle to keep up with the moving trends. There are still no official images but the N95 successor has the same obvious specs, 3G, 2.8 inch LCD, WiFi b/g, AGPS, 5MP camera, and MicroSD slot. What’s new to this model is the 16GB internal memory, 950 mAh battery, ability to use flash while video recording, microUSB, and Flash Lite 3 enabled web browser. The size is also new with the N96 being slightly longer and wider but .07 of an inch thinner than the N95. A release date is still unknown and since these specs are on the German Nokia site. They could change when the N96 finally hits the states

Callpod Dragon Bluetooth headset

Callpod Dragon Bluetooth Headset
Callpod’s Dragon Bluetooth headset is not only good for use with cell phones, but it works just fine with PDAs, VoIP devices as well as computers as long as they are all Bluetooth compatible. The Dragon Bluetooth headset works well only within a 100 meter range, which is by far and large already a vast improvement over the ordinary 10 meter range that standard Bluetooth headsets currently employ.

It is also capable of silencing ambient noise as well as annoying pops and clicks thanks to its proprietary Dual-Mic Noise Suppression technology which is capable of isolating the user’s voice by removing background noise. The Dragon also works great when connected to the PC whenever you want to chat up a friend over Skype while on a mobile call, letting you switch back and forth between the PC and cell phone at the touch of a button.

Ambient noise elimination is due to a new Bluetooth technology known as “enhanced audio channels”, or eSCO for short. ( present in an Iphone).

Too Many Unlocked iPhones

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008 | Posted in Electronic Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets, Mobile Phones | No Comments »

iphone
According to Toni Sacconaghi - analyst at Bernstein Research - there are about 1 million iPhones that were sold and are not being used with the AT&T network, which means that they were unlockedand 27% of the iPhones in the world don’t have a relationship with AT&T. Poor AT&T.

Taking in consideration that AT&T made a big contract with Apple to get the exclusive phone deal, these studies are definitely bad news for both parties involved. In the end, people that don’t stay with AT&T after buying the iPhone, aren’t making carrier payments, which results in a big loss for Apple.

Here are some numbers, so you can have an idea about the amount of money we are talking about:

If Apple hit its sales goal of 10 million iPhones by the end of fiscal 2008 but 30 percent of those don’t result in any carrier payments, its revenue and profit would be $500 million and 37 cents per share lower than expected.
