Nvida

Nvidia is a company ,well-known for their graphics chips that are currently dominating the markets, have decided to venture into the cell phone market.

As the amount of graphics and video enhanced phones hit the market, they think it’s time they add the old “Powered by Nvida” on them.

In other words, every self respecting gamer will probably want to have one of these chips in their phones.

Nvidia already has a chip dubbed the APX 2500 which is clocked at 750MHz and can decode 720p high-def video. Now that would be a powerful phone worth picking up. They report that they already have several customers lined up, but are reluctant to give out any names.

Apple Gaming Device

According to the coast watchers over at Engadget, Apple Inc. may be getting into the gaming hardware business and then some.

Recent patent applications have requested patent protection with the code word “APPLE” “for products that classify as “” Toys, games and playthings, namely, hand-held units for playing electronic games; hand-held units for playing video games; stand alone video game machines; electronic games other than those adapted for use with television receivers only; LCD game machines; electronic educational game machines; toys, namely battery-powered computer games.”

Whew. That’s a lot of protection and follows on the heals of their patent application for a multi-touch gaming interface. Which should put the Cupertino Rumor Mill in high gear this summer. Imagine the potential for wireless xBox Live style gaming via a handheld PSP style device. Or could it be perhaps an “all you can eat” device converging the iPhone? Seems so, as the multi-touch patent states:

“the invention allows various applications to be integrated and used on devices that are not readily suitable for supporting multiple applications at the same time.”

Is this the igame?

N96 leaked

Is this the real deal? With no Xenon flash in it, people have been really skeptical. But the sources for the release are strong.

Germans over at Nokia have posted the N96 specs on Nokia’s Germany product page. They are absolutely brilliant in bringing in new models every month making people struggle to keep up with the moving trends. There are still no official images but the N95 successor has the same obvious specs, 3G, 2.8 inch LCD, WiFi b/g, AGPS, 5MP camera, and MicroSD slot. What’s new to this model is the 16GB internal memory, 950 mAh battery, ability to use flash while video recording, microUSB, and Flash Lite 3 enabled web browser. The size is also new with the N96 being slightly longer and wider but .07 of an inch thinner than the N95. A release date is still unknown and since these specs are on the German Nokia site. They could change when the N96 finally hits the states

leapster2
LeapFrog Enterprises have just dropped an announcement for a couple of new web-connected video game systems which are connected to the proprietary LeapFrog Learning Path. The Leapster2 Learning Game System is the latest addition to the Leapster family, further expanding gameplay online whilst enabling parents to check up on what their child is learning and sharing in their accomplishments. You will find that the online capabilities in the all-new Didj Custom Gaming System is able to hook up gameplay with schoolwork, enabling kids to pick and choose the game they like with spelling lists, math problems and more.

The Leapster2 system comes in a new form factor that is easy on the eye, featuring edutainment titles such as the exclusive educational game license for Star Wars: The Clone Wars as well as the summer 2008 Disney/Pixar blockbuster WALL E. The Leapster2 handheld will come with auto-levels that makes it able to adjust games to children’s particular skills and progress, providing just the right challenge. Since it features online connectivity as well, parents will be able to check up on their protege’s accomplishments to dish out the appropriate amount of encouragement. I wish parents will see my level 80 Warlock in World of Warcraft and be proud of it, but somehow they seem oblivious to such an “achievement” and instead criticize me for spending too much time in front of computer monitor.

Eyeball-implanted camera

eye ball camera
According to the recent patent application implanting a micro-camera directly into the eyeball may be a future solution for restoring sight to blind or people with damaged vision. Actually, technology to restore sight to the blind by using electronic retinas was developed some time ago, but the link between the retina and external cameras was involving wires, which is a significant disadvantage. But this new methord lets the camera could be charged through wireless and communicate directly with a chip implanted at the back of the eye.

UCLA Optical engineer ,Michelle Hauer ,thinks that technology may have advanced enough to insert a tiny camera inside the lens of the eye, capable of adapting for corneal optical effects and perhaps using haptics to stabilize its position. The camera would transmit images to a nerve-stimulating chip at the back of the eye, resulting in a complete electronic vision system.

Jet engine powered by hydrogen

Hydrogen Powered Jet
According to the recent news a new reaction engine was invented whose designers intend to solve given problem at least partially. This engine is a hydrogen-powered A2 aircraft concept that would be capable of hitting Mach-5 - five times the speed of sound (3400 mph), making it somewhat the spiritual successor of the Concorde. What makes it different is range and efficiency, capable of ferrying up to 300 passengers from Brussels to Sydney in less than four hours. It uses a 2-mode engine that makes it efficient at low speeds as well as hitting top gear with relative ease.
