Music Videos legally on YouTube

The first step was taken when EMI Music made a deal with YouTube that allows users to distribute and/or edit music videos from EMI artists. Representatives of EMI Music say this is a step further towards their goal to offer the best entertainment experience possible for their customers and to better connect artists with fans. The way I see it it’s also a great way for EMI Music to promote its artists, even for free.

It was part of the deal that YouTube will provide tools to identify, track and monetize its content in order to compensate artists, also these tools will provide means to request the removal of EMI Music content from YouTube’s pages. Anyway this latest addition completed Google’s strife to make deals with the main music publishers (YouTube already has deals with Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group ) in order to cover some of the content that has copyright issues.

It’s true you can find now any video you need on YouTube, now it’s just more legal.
