As I was announcing last week Ubuntu plans on launching a mobile OS and, as a response, one might say, RedHat promises light-weight OS. The project is called Red Hat Global Desktop and is supposed to be a light, low hardware-requirement operating system.

Also the Global Desktop is supposed to be Red Hat’s contribution to the One Laptop Per Child project. Besides it will be good competition to Microsoft’s light OS.
