What is a Broad Beam?

A broad beam is a satellite beam which is focused on a relatively large portion of the earths surface.

For example, a broad beam may cover the entire United States.

The coverage area of a beam on the Earth is referred to as its footprint.

A broad beam is sometimes referred to as a wide beam.

The opposite of a broad beam is a spot beam.
