DVD Benchmark
DVD is short for ‘Digital Versatile Disc’ and it is an optical disc storage media format that is capable of storing large amount of data. DVD benchmarking tools are used to analyze the quality of the disc. Both the audio and the video quality of the disc are tested with the DVD benchmarking tools and a quality score is usually provided at the end of the test. The quality score can be used for comparing quality of the DVDs. DVD benchmarking tools carry out a number of tests to determine the read and write quality of the disc and also, to make sure there are no bad or unreadable sectors available on the disc.
DVD benchmarking tools reveals a lot of interesting information about the disc like manufacturer, sessions, tracks, format and more. A read test is carried out to scan the disc for unreadable sectors whereas a read transfer rate test is used to calculate the transfer rate of all the sectors available on the disc. The raw data errors are also counted so as to determine the quality of the disc. In addition to the read test, jitter rate is also determined in order to check the write quality of the disc.
Nero DiscSpeed and PlexTools are some of the popular applications that are used for checking the quality of the DVDs and the CDs. Both applications carry out a number of tests so as to determine the quality of the disc. Read transfer rate test, write transfer rate test, jitter test, PI/PO test and C1/C2 test are some of the tests that are carried out by Nero DiscSpeed and PlexTools for analyzing the discs. In order to test the quality of the disc, all you need to do is to insert the disc into the drive and then select the tests from the menu of the benchmarking tool. A number of quality checks are carried out thoroughly and the result is displayed.
- How to Benchmark a CPU
To benchmark a CPU, we recommend CPU Right Mark. The CPU RightMark suite is designed to create objective measurements of the performance of modern and future processors in different computational tasks such as numerical modeling of physical processes and solving of 3D graphic problems. CPU RightMark focuses on testing loaded FPU/SIMD units and CPU/RAM in [...]...
- Proctor Test Set
A Proctor Test Set is a tool used by telco personnel to diagnose problems with phone lines. You call the Proctor Test Set number and press buttons on a touch tone phone to active the tests you select. For more information, visit the Proctor web page at http://www.proctorinc.com and look at the 51200-S Telephone Test [...]...
- Symbol Rate
The symbol rate is the rate of state changes on a communications circuit. If a circuit can carry two tones per second, the circuit has a symbol rate of two. Circuits then use different modulation techniques to carry multiple bits per symbol. If the circuit is limited to two different tones, the first tone can [...]...
- How to Copy Slides to Disk
If you have been enjoying photography for more than a few years, you probably have plenty of slides taken with analog cameras. Before digital photography, slides were a great way to view photos en masse. They were very small, making them light and portable and perfect for slide shows in homes, classrooms, and auditoriums. However, [...]...
- SDR SDRAM
SDR SDRAM is Single Data Rate SDRAM. SDR SDRAM is the original SDRAM standard, which has since been replaced by DDR SDRAM. DDR SDRAM doubles the bandwidth of SDR DRAM by transferring data twice per cycle on both edges of the clock signal, implementing burst mode data transfer. Standard SDR SDRAM DIMMs SDR SDRAM is [...]...
