While all HDTV receivers allow you to switch from high definition broadcasts back to standard TV broadcasts with ease. There are some HDTV receivers that require you to manually switch back and forth. This can be very inconvenient.

Look for receivers that have outputs for HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) capability, S-Video and digital audio, this way you don't have to buy additional wires or cables to hook up state of the art audio, and multimedia components. If you are interested in having parental controls, most receivers include this control. If you are planning on hooking your HDTV receiver into a terrestrial or roof top antenna, make sure the process and installation will be easy.
