How to Close a Hotmail Account
Hotmail is a free (i.e. advertiser supported) web based e-mail system that Microsoft Corporation provides.
Those who no longer use their Hotmail account can delete it so that people who send them e-mail will receive messages telling them that the Hotmail e-mail address is no longer valid.
How to Close a Hotmail Account
- Log into the Microsoft Hotmail account.
- Go to the Microsoft Hotmail Close your MSN account page.
- Select Close my MSN account and delete my credentials.
- Press Close

Go to the reset password page and when they send you an automated email respond to it explaining that your account got hacked. According to some here you might get a reply from a real person from MS who will ask you some questions only you should be able to answer so they can give you back your account.
I have forgotten my email account open at my computer at home the entire night. The next morining when I tried to send emails I got a reply saying your email account is temporarily blocked so the verification of the account ,via code sent to a phone number within EU is needed. I tried ths but it still does not work, I can not reactivate my account. How do I get ridd off this temporarily blocked status and continue using my email account. I need this email account because many people have it and they send me emails to it.

Is this a hotmail account? I never heard of hotmail having this kind of verification method. Did you try calling or emailing them (from a different address) about the issue?
How do I cancel or close my hotmail account without signing in? I forgot my password temporarily but was not able to give the Windows Live Account Recovery team enough information for them to “prove” that this is indeed my account (I tried twice), so they blocked my access.
I tried to jump through all their hoops, and when that didn’t work, I tried to contact them personally by phone, “live chat” or email. But the Microsoft website says that those do not deal with hotmail problems. So I gave up in disgust and now have a brand new Yahoo account and want to close or cancel my hotmail account.

If this is the case, i guess your best bet is to contact hotmail support.

Hello David, I have just come off the phone after 8 hours with techie staff at Virgin, a paid for at £6 per month service. Identical problem to you. It was caused by a a Trojan on the sign-on page, a particularly nasty malware which meant I’ve had to abandon my two Hotmail accounts and move them across to my AOL A/c. So in keeping with other recommendations I am just abandoning the accounts and they will be closed down through non-use after 30 days. I have a note of all my favourites and folders so just a lot of paperwork. I hope this helps you. The more you try, the greater the risk of transferring any trojan/malware to clean accounts.
