How to Enable Cookies

Cookies are basically tracking tools that are placed on computers by web browsers. They serve as a channel between a web site’s server connections and a computer to store and retrieve information. For example, when users complete an online form, the web site’s server will take the form entries and store them as text directly on computers, in case it needs to access the information again. It also serves as a reference point for end-users to customize their web information. The information in cookies can be used to customize search engines as per the user’s personal choices.

The application and usage of cookies is most profound in online ordering systems. When a user places an order for any kind of merchandise, the server will place a cookie with all the information related to the merchandize, so that even if the user closes the browser they can always re-open the website and still find the shopping items in their shopping basket.

There has always been a general concern with users that cookies may be used by web sites to access their personal information. The fact is that cookies are used only to store information that is provided by the user and are unable to access any other information present on computers. Nevertheless, users can limit the access web site cookies have to their computers.
