GMail, which stands for Google Mail, is a favorite amongst many Internet users because it stores all email and provides a considerable amount of storage space. Since it is easy to use, many people like to employ it for their pesonal email and to sync all of their other emails together in one inbox. It used to be that you needed an invite to open a GMail account, but these days, it’s available to anyone.
The first step is to visit gmail.com. This will redirect you to a google sub-domain, but it’s easier to remember gmail.com than the sub-domain. When you get there, you’ll see a simple login screen and some information about GMail. At the bottom right there is a grey button that says “Create an account >>.” This is what you want to click so that you can begin creating your account.
When you get to the next page, put in your information. After that, put in what email address you want. Since GMail has grown rather large, you might not find your available email on the first try. However, it will give you a few suggestions if your first attempt is not available. Select the one you want or go back and try a different one. Once you have the email of choice, move on.
Fill in your password, repeat it and then put a security question in. The security question is necessary in case you do lose your password and need to get it replaced. They will prompt you for your security question to ensure that it is you. Therefore, put that in. Following this, scroll down and put your birthday in, your recovering email and and fill in the word verification.
The final step is to read over the terms and conditions. It’s always a good idea to read these, but if you’d rather not, just hit the “I Accept, Create My Account” button. However, it is important to note that by creating the account, you are agreeing to their terms which is why it never hurts to read the terms and conditions. Once you hit I Accept, it will redirect you to your email page with a brand new, empty inbox. You’ve successfully opened a GMail account.
