An ISO file, also known as an iso image, is an archived file that contains images. This archive of images can then be burned onto CDs or other discs to make it easier to transport the images. However, to open the ISO file, you do need an extraction program so that you can access them. The first step is to access the file. Insert the disc into your computer and allow it to load. Then, locate the ISO file–typically it has the ".iso" extension–and double click on it.
If you have an extraction program on your computer already, you can proceed to the next step. However, if you don't, you'll want to get it. While most computers do come with an extraction program, one of the best ones to get is WinRAR. When installing the program, make sure to check all the different file extensions you want WinRAR to become the default program to open. Specifically, check the .iso box so WinRAR automatically extracts the .iso file.
Double click on the file and then click the extract button. This will begin the process of extracting the files. If it is a small archive, it'll be done within seconds. However, if it is a much larger program, it can take a little longer to complete. But, since WinRAR is one of the best programs, typically, the project is done in a matter of seconds.
Once the archive has been extracted, a folder will open showing you all the images that are within there. If you want to repackage it up, select the folder and then send it to WinRAR to package into a .iso. You can right click the folder to do this or you can open WinRAR and do it from there. In the end, whatever extraction program you use is fine so long as it can handle the .iso extension.
