The HTC Touch HD measures 115 x 62.8 x 12 mm and weighs 5.2 ounces (with battery). The candybar style phone features a prominent, large high-resolution screen and has a glossy, beveled minimalist appearance. The Touch HD is available only in black.

The device features a generous 3.8 inch wide screen TFT (65k color) touchscreen display. At 480 by 800 pixels, the Touch HD's touch-sensitive display screen can be confidently described as being truly high resolution.
HTC's exclusive TouchFLO 3D allows for finger-touch navigation, although stylus handwriting recognition is supported as well. An accelerometer sensor is included for auto-rotation of the VGA screen.
The Touch HD boasts a 5 megapixel onboard camera featuring high resolution 2592 x 1944 pixel imaging. The HTC Touch HD comes loaded with Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional to provide full smartphone functionality.
Pocket Office software allows users to access Word, Excel, OneNote, and PowerPoint software to increase on-the-go connectivity and productivity. A PDF viewer is also included.
Messaging options include SMS and MMS, and the device's included Wi-Fi support allows users to communicate via instant messaging with the Touch HD's WAP 2.0/xHTML browser. PC syncing is possible with the device's miniUSB support.

The Touch HD features a 1350 mAh Li-ion battery, providing up to 390 minutes of talk time on WCDMA and up to 310 minutes on GSM. On standby, the phone can be expected to last up to 450 hours on WCDMA and up to 390 hours on GSM.
