HTC Touch Pro CDMA
HTC's Touch Pro CDMA smartphone is designed to fit the needs of HTC Diamond admirers who require the text-entry option of a full physical keypad. Like the Diamond, the Touch Pro CDMA has plentiful processing power and software options, and it even doubles the ROM to 512 MB for improved performance.
Device Dimensions and Appearance
The HTC Touch Pro CDMA measures a fairly standard 4.01 x 2 x 0.71 inches and weighs 5.3 ounces. The device comes in a “slider” form and features a relatively small display screen framed by a rounded glossy black exterior. Despite its touchscreen, the Touch Pro CDMA features large physical buttons for key selection options. The device slides open to reveal a full QWERTY keypad.
Display Screen Size and Functions
The Touch Pro CDMA features a 2.8 inch TFT display screen with VGA (480 x 640 pixel) resolution. The screen is an LCD and provides 18 bit colors. As is common with HTC smartphone offerings, the Touch Pro CDMA's screen offers user-selected font size.
A 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus is included with video capture capabilities.
Productivity Capabilities
The device supports 2-way text-messaging and Outlook Mobile (HTML) email with Opera 9.5 plus Internet Mobile Explorer browser software. T9 predictive text software and the user-friendly slide-out QWERTY keyboard increase user ease with data entry.
Users can PC Sync with USB, and Windows Mobile 6.1 (with HTC's proprietary TouchFLO 3D interface) software increases productivity options. A standard calendar, a to-do list, and voice memo features are included. Support for the 1xEVDO rev.A standard allows users to access multimedia content at impressive 3G speeds. The HTC Touch Pro CDMA supports multiple Bluetooth profiles as well.
As with most HTC smartphones, A-GPS and LBS are supported. Users may also be impressed with the device's half gig of ROM, 288 MB of RAM, and its included 1GB microSD card for memory expansion.
Audio Features
The HTC Touch Pro CDMA features the Windows Media Player for audio/video playback and supports polyphonic, real-music ringers, and custom ringtones. The speakerphone is also a standard device feature, as is voice-dialing (speaker-independent/automatic).
Battery Specifications
Offering up to only 3.8 hours of talk time on a single charge, the Touch Pro CDMA's 1340 mAh Li-ion battery may disappoint some users.
