LG CG180
Make no mistake about it: the LG CG180 is not intended to be the be-all and end-all in the world of handheld devices. But you would be hard pressed to find a better entry level phone than the CG180. With a moderate price tag, this is an excellent starter phone for students and young adults, as well as for people who simply don't care about having a phone that does everything under the sun.
As phones go, the CG180 will get the job done. The sound quality on point to point calls is pretty good. Unlike similar priced models, the speakerphone on the unit offers crisp and clear signals. The WAP browser is not hard to use, which will no doubt cut down on the learning curve for first time users. The color resolution is a standard 65K, and the address book has the usual room for 500 entries. While there is nothing spectacular here, the features are dependable and easy to manage.
The only real downside to the CG180 is that it has limited talk time and standby time. The talk time will take you no more than three hours before a charge is necessary. In like manner, the standby time is a scant 250 hours. This makes the unit less than satisfactory for people who stay on the go.
Still, there is a market for a phone with the CG180's capabilities. People who need a solid phone for personal use are likely to find the range of functions acceptable, and the price tag to be reasonable. If you want a fairly basic phone with just a few extras, the CG180 is worth considering.
Pros
- Excellent sound quality
- Simple and familiar design
- Relatively lightweight
Cons
- Low standby and talk time ability
Overall
As a simple and serviceable handheld device, the LG CG180 does live up to its advertising. It does not claim to be the flashiest or the most feature rich phone on the market. But it does cover most of the basics and would be great for new users to start with.
