LG Scoop
The LG Scoop is a phone designed primarily for the text-messaging crowd. Aside from a full QWERTY keyboard, the LG Scoop lacks many of the other features common to mid range phones of today. With a design that looks as though it is meant to take on the highly successful Sidekick, the LG Scoop is a text messager’s dream device. While most people should probably avoid the LG Scoop, if you are the type of person who likes to send text after text, the LG Scoop is the device for you.
The LG Scoop was announced in October 2007 as a dual band CDMA phone. This means that it can only be used in the United States and possibly a few other places in the world. Unfortunately, despite its use of the CDMA network, the LG Scoop lacks 3G data transfer features commonly associated with most modern CDMA devices. Instead, it uses the antiquated and outdated CDMA2000 network, providing slower speed data transfer.
Measuring in at approximately four and a half inches by two inches by a half of an inch, the LG Scoop is a fairly large phone for a candy bar designed device. It weighs 117 grams, putting it on par in size and weight with devices like most of the newer BlackBerry smart phones.
Battery life is short, but not terrible. Expect to get approximately four and a half hours of talk time from a single charge. While this would be poor for most consumers, if you are a text messager, you will chew through the battery at a much slower pace.
The main screen allows for 176 by 220 pixels and 262k colors. Not too shabby, especially for a device in this segment of the market. It offers more than enough viewable space to easily send text messages as well as watch small video clips.
The LG Scoop also features a built in digital camera capable of 1.3 megapixels of resolution. It can also film low quality video clips and features a digital zoom function.
Multimedia support is pretty good. The LG Scoop supports a variety of video formats, but only supports music in the MP3 file format. The built in 16 MB of memory can be expanded with a microSD card.

Overall
The LG Scoop is a text messager’s dream device. It offers a huge variety of benefits for the average texter along with a bunch of other great features. The only real drawback is the battery life, but if you text instead of talk, you should not have any issues whatsoever.
