What is a Mini SD Card?
The Mini SD Card is a relatively new addition to the Secure Digital media format. The Mini SD Card is a flash memory device that can hold digital information for a wide range of consumer electronic devices, but are usually used for mobile phones. All Mini SD Cards come equipped with an adapter that will fit all standard SD memory card slots. This way you can use Mini SD Cards in mobile phones and your digital camera or Mp3 player.
The Mini SD Card was introduced in 2003 at the Cebit Computer Expo by SanDisk Corporation, which is currently the largest manufacturer of flash memory. However, Mini SD Cards are made by a wide variety of technology companies and are all universally compatible.

It should be noted that there is no Write Protect Switch and there are no Terminal Guards. The Mini SD Card is smaller than a standard SD Card. A standard SD memory card has the following specs: Width: 24 mm, Length: 32 mm and Thickness: 2.1mm
Storage Capacity for SD Mini Cards
Currently, storage capacity for an SD Mini Card is in the range of 2 to 4 gigabytes. SD Mini Cards have been made with storage capacities as low as 16 Megabytes, but they are most common in storage sizes from 512 MB to 2 GB. Expect the storage size to grow over the upcoming years
SD Mini Card Adapter
One of the great advantages of the SD Mini Card is that it is backward compatible with many electronic devices that use standard SD memory cards. SD memory cards are used for millions of products including digital cameras, MP3 players and PDA's (personal digital assistants).
