Motorola RIZR Z8

If style is what you are looking for, then the Motorola RIZR Z8 is your phone. It features a cutting edge sliding design with one amazing addition. Unlike other slider phones that simply slide up and down along a plane, the RIZR Z8 actually curves in on itself in its open position, allowing the phone to cradle your face when you talk on it. While this is certainly an amazing feature in itself, and a step in the right direction for slider phones, it is actually the amazing amount of functions this phone can perform that really sets it apart from the rest of Motorola's designs.

Everyone has heard of the infamous Motorola RAZR by now, and this is really just a sleeker, more hip looking variant that features a slide up design instead of the clamshell flip open style of the RAZR. Everything you would expect from a high end Motorola phone is packed in here, including a camera that is capable of displaying 2 megapixel images, a VGA video camera that can be used for video calling, a music and video player, a QVGA screen that will display images in amazing quality, multiple types of text messaging, various email services, plenty of games, and Bluetooth technology for easy connection with most modern computers and other devices. The memory size can even be increased by up to 4 gigabytes with an additional MicroSD card - making the Motorola RIZR Z8 an impressive media player.

Even though all of those built in features are great, what good is a phone if it cannot interface with the latest network technology? Because Motorola realized that a phone needs to be a communication device first and foremost, they designed it around the newest 3G GSM network. This means that the phone is capable of lighting fast speeds for all types of data and voice transmission.

Unfortunately for a phone that has so much going for it, there are a couple of problems. The first is not a just a problem with the Motorola RIZR Z8, but is inherent in all slider phones. Because there is no protective casing to cover the display or the buttons, accidental button pressing and display scratching can be a real problem for many people. Also, Motorola opted to use the Symbian operating system on the RIZR Z8, a choice that may affect the stability, speed and usability of the phone as whole.
