Motorola W370
Every once in awhile, a bargain phone comes out with a lot of features, making it a must have device for the average cell phone user. The Motorola W370 is just such a phone, as it has a variety of features which makes it desirable enough for everyone from run of the mill users to those who like to have a slick, stylish device.
The Motorola W370 is a GSM phone that is tri band and America bound. There is, however, a different version for those that live in Europe or Asia, but they are bound to their respective regions as well. This means that there is no global roaming available, and it is not possible to use this phone overseas without incurring some astronomically high charges.
As is the case with most Motorola designs, the Motorola W370 is a clamshell phone with a similar resemblance to the famous RAZR V3. It is, however, a bit larger in some dimensions, such as thickness. Despite the larger size however, there is a very small LCD screen on the inside of the phone, measuring in at 128 by 160 pixels with only 65 thousand colors. It is important to remember though that the Motorola W370 is a bargain phone, so anything else really would have been overkill. However, that being said, since the Motorola W370 will primarily be purchased by those who still use their phone most often to talk, there is an incredible amount of battery life, offering as much as seven and a half hours of talk time and 250 hours of standby time.
Much like you would expect, the Motorola W370 is relatively devoid of features, but it does have a few additions that make it a nice bargain phone to have. First off, there is a built in digital camera that is capable of VGA resolution (0.3 megapixels), which is more than enough for someone who will only use the camera very rarely. Also, there is a speakerphone built in and the phone is even capable of supporting picture IDs for calls. Finally, although there is no built in media player, the phone can be used as an FM radio and does come with the ability to play a variety of games. Not bad for a very cheap (free in some cases) phone.
Pros
- Nice design for a low end phone
- Long battery life
- Small form factor
- FM Radio
Cons
- Lacks all of the features that are standard on mid and high level phones
- Small LCD screen could be difficult for some to see
- Camera could be slightly better
Overall
The Motorola W370 is a nice phone for those who just want a device that they can use to talk to their friends, family, and coworkers with. While it is devoid of all of the bells and whistles that most new phones have, it makes up for it with simple functionality and a design that could rival that of many of the more costly phones on the market.
