Overall

The Nokia 1680 classic delivers what one expects from a basic level phone, which is what this model is all about. Nothing too elaborate or fancy about this phone, yet it provides what most have come to expect from a cellular phone nowadays. The 1680 classic provides a VGA camera, video playback, polyphonic and MP3 ringtones, good user memory, and features such as an extended phone book and other apps.

The 1680 also comes equipped with the Nokia Xpress Audio messaging. Its email supports POP3, IMAP4 & SMTP.

There is a 2.5mm headset jack, and the phone also holds a mini USB plug, which can be used to synchronise with a computer that has the PIM software from Nokia.

The Nokia 1680 does not have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. While some may be turned off by these lacking features, a good many others are actually turning towards the phone for this very fact. Security-conscious users, who wouldn't want anyone to hack easily into their phone using a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection, like the 1680 because it is devoid of this entry route.

The display on the 1680 isn't anything to rave about, being pretty standard and not exactly impressive. The phone also has a strange menu structure, which many find "off" from the usual Nokia menu structure. Most people pick up any Nokia and find their way easily through the pretty much standard menu structure. The Nokia 1680 somewhat falls short of this expectation.

Pros

Cons

Special mention

The battery life is commendable.

Conclusion

A good offer for those who aren't looking for much. Great for basic phone calling and text messaging, with ability to access email as well.
