Nokia N79
The Nokia N79 phone is a new breed among the N-series phones from Nokia. It is the smallest and slimmest among the N-series product line. The key features of this phone are focussed on design and multimedia.
Phone Design
The phone can be personalized using back covers. There are five colors available: olive green, light sea blue, espresso brown, coral red and white. The background screen of the phone simultaneously changes color when you change the back cover. The back cover and background screen colors complement each other.
Music Playing Features
The N79 provides up to 24 hours of playback time for your tunes. The phone has a provision for a microSD card with a maximum capacity of 8 GB. This card can hold about 3,000 songs and 2,500 photo images. It also has dedicated music keys for easy control and selection of files.
The phone also features Stereo FM Radio with RDS as well as support for Visual Radio. An in-built FM transmitter allows you to play tunes via the car stereo.
Fast Connection
The phone supports high-speed data connections since it features the 3G, HSDPA 3.6 Mbit/s technology. Its email feature can support POP, IMAP and SMTP protocols while also having provisions for email attachments, email filtering and Nokia Intellisync Wireless email.
The web-browsing feature supports WML, HTML and XHTML languages and the HTTP and WAP protocols. For GPS, the phone boasts assisted GPS technology and the Nokia Maps application.
Other Key Features
The phone can capture any magic moment with its 5-megapixel camera that uses a Carl Zeiss lens for superior image quality. A number of pre-loaded games are also available in the phone and you have as long as 4 hours playing time.
The Li-ion 1200 mAh battery allows for a decent 5.5 hours of talk time and 15 days on standby.
Pros
- The phone comes complete with all call and messaging options available on the market. It has hands-free and automatic answer via a speakerphone, conference and video calling, push-to-talk and VoIP. It also has SMS, MMS and a text-to-speech feature.
- Web browsing and email messaging services are fast because of HSDPA. It also has provisions for email services not available in other phones, such as email attachments.
Cons
- Xenon flash for the camera would probably be a better option than the Dual LED flash that the N79 features.
- Inconvenience can be experienced when simultaneously charging the phone and composing a message. The charger port is located on the bottom right hand side of the phone that obstructs the fingers. It will require getting used to the hardware design when composing a message.
Overall
The Nokia N79 is sure to be a hit for both the young and old generations. Nokia phones are known to be user-friendly despite being high-tech, and the N79 seems to fit the bill perfectly.
