Option GT Max 3.6 Express

Option GT Max 3.6 Express

AT&T describe their Option GT-Max-3.6-Express as "the most advanced PCI Express card built on the global standard for wireless." And they are certainly correct, as there are very few Express Cards out there that can match the Option GT-Max-3.6-Express in terms of speed, stability, and overall usability. The Option GT-Max-3.6-Express has everything that a business customer could want - as long as compatibility is not what you are looking for.

The Option GT-Max-3.6-Express is a 3G cellular network connection card for laptops that can use both the brand new BroadbandConnect network and the older EDGE network for data transfer over cellular channels. This means that it goes fast. Mighty fast. 3.6 Mbit/s fast in most parts of America.

But the fun doesn't stop there. Because the Option GT-Max-3.6-Express is able to take advantage of tri band HSDPA networks and quad band GPRS networks, it can be used anywhere in the world, allowing you to have access to the same high speed network in Japan as you do in America as you do in England.

While the speed and usability throughout the globe are great features, there are two major drawbacks for the Option GT-Max-3.6-Express. The first is that the Option GT-Max-3.6-Express is an Expresss Card, so there are lots of computers out there that cannot use this device. With USB 2.0 based wireless network modems now entering the market, cards like the Option GT-Max-3.6-Express will begin to fade away and become useless in time.

The other problem with the Option GT-Max-3.6-Express is that it is only Windows compatible. If you have a Mac, even a MacBook Pro with an Express Card slot, you will not be able to use the Option GT-Max-3.6-Express. Although the Apple market in general is relatively small, the Apple notebook market certainly is not, and this lack of compatibility really alienates a lot of potential customers.

All in all, though, the Option GT-Max-3.6-Express is an exceptional device that can be had for a relatively cheap price tag.

Overall

Consider yourself lucky if your computer is able to use the Option GT-Max-3.6-Express, as it really is one of the best deals on the market. While not as high tech as some of the USB 2.0 based options out there, it is a great device for a cheap price, and is well worth a purchase if you're an AT&T customer or you are looking for a new wireless provider.
