Samsung Rant
The Samsung Rant is similar in look and style to the LG Rumor but offers much more to consumers. This is a side-slider, CDMA, sleek-looking phone with a large display, a traditional keypad, a QWERTY four-row keyboard and a high-resolution camera. One of the biggest differences between the Rant and the Rumor is the size. The Rant is larger than other phones of its category and weighs more.
The Rant measures 4.5 x 2.1 x 0.7 inches and has a 2.1+ACI- color screen that gives off 262k colors, which is a terrific feature. The keyboard is very convenient to use on the Rant. It has four rows of keys instead of the traditional three rows and it is in the QWERTY format. The layout of the keyboard is easy to negotiate, which wins it top marks. The Samsung Rant features a headset jack and has email and GPS capabilities.
Pros
- QWERTY keyboard
- microSDHC card slot
- GPS
- 600-name capacity, caller groups supported, picture ID and ring ID
- Voice-dialing, voice commands and voice recording are available
Cons
- 2.1" display is not QVGA but is 176 x 220 pixels
- Some users may find the flat and rubbery keys as a disadvantage
Overall
The Samsung Rant is a solid feeling phone that has an interesting feel to it when you hold it in your hands. It is a sturdy and functional phone. Some people might not appreciate the fact that the phone is somewhat large and weighs more than some other phones, whereas other people might be able to overlook these aspects of the phone and appreciate it for its other attributes. The larger size makes it possible for the keyboard to be larger.
