Sanyo SCP-7000

The Sanyo SCP 7000 is a good basic phone that delivered everything I needed and had a few extra features. For those looking for a good entry level phone for basic phone use, you can't go wrong with the Sanyo SCP 7000.

The SCP 7000 is a clamshell style phone that is a decent size and considerably light weight. The style of the antenna is a stub and if you need more signal, you can even pull out the antenna to strengthen the signal. Since I live in a suburban area near NY, I always have decent coverage and the stub antenna suits me fine.

The SCP 7000 comes with two display screens, one on the outside which is extremely convenient and the main screen inside. The outside display worked great, even in the sun. It includes all the stuff you need including a clock, caller ID, signal level and battery meter. Inside the phone, the display is nice as well.

Using the phone only takes a few minutes to learn and has a similar user interface as other phones. The phone book can hold lots of numbers and going through the menus is very easy and pretty basic.

Other great features include push to talk which I don't use that often, but most of my friends say is a great feature to have and a speaker phone that works well. This phone also allows you change the faceplates and includes parental controls, if you want to give this affordable, basic phone to your kids. One other feature which I do use is the real time voice call screening. The voice screening works well, especially when I am deciding on whether to pick up the phone or not.

Overall

The Sanyo SCP 7000 is a great entry level phone for either adults or kids. It is extremely easy to use and has some extra features which add practical value to the phone. Most of these phones come free with a new contract or are extremely affordable if you are replacing a broken or old phone.
