Sony Ericsson Z750
Earlier in 2007, Sony Ericsson announced their first 3G HSDPA phone – the Sony Ericsson Z750. This clamshell device was designed to finally bring the company out of the dark ages of slow data transfer. While not the ultra high end model that most people were expecting, the Sony Ericsson Z750 is a great device with a lot of potential – making it perfect for average users who are looking for more from their phones.
The Sony Ericsson Z750 is a quad band GSM device that can be used anywhere in the world just by changing the SIM card. Furthermore, Sony Ericsson pulled out all the stops with this device, allowing for global 3G support via a tri band UMTS system. This means that you can not only use the Sony Ericsson Z750 to talk to people while you are anywhere in the world, but you can also receive files via high speed data transfer wherever you have satellite coverage – almost anywhere on the globe.
Despite the plethora of features built into the Sony Ericsson Z750, this device is surprisingly small and light. It measures in at approximately four inches by two inches by one inch and weighs 110 grams. As is the case with all of the phones in the current Sony Ericsson lineup, the battery life on the Sony Ericsson Z750 is extremely impressive, allowing for nine hours of talk time and 400 hours of standby time on a full charge.
The interior screen on the Sony Ericsson Z750 provides 240 pixels by 320 pixels and 262 thousand colors, so it is fairly large and easily readable. On the outside of the phone, you will find a small, grayscale LED screen which complements the design of the device.
As far as features go, the Sony Ericsson Z750 has enough to satisfy anyone looking for an above average phone for the average user. Included in the device is a 2.0 Megapixel digital camera with four times digital zoom, an additional camera for video calling, a music and video player with support for a variety of file formats, an FM radio, expandable memory via a Memory Stick Micro card, Bluetooth support, a speakerphone, and a number of voice activated features.
Pros
- Small and stylish
- 3G support
- Long battery life
- Numerous features
- Excellent bang for your buck
Cons
- Not available through any major cell phone company in America – yet
Overall
It's a real shame that the Sony Ericsson Z750 is not for sale through any of the big wireless companies, like AT&T. This is the perfect phone for just about everyone and offers an excellent price/performance ratio, making it easily one of the best low-mid level phones on the market. Highly recommended.
