What is a Teleconference Bridge?

A teleconference bridge is the equipment which is used for allowing three or more people to communicate with each other at the same time. It is used for establishing conferences on phone as it allows a number of people to communicate with each other at the same time. A teleconference bridge connects multiple incoming lines so as to have a number of people connected together, and so, it's used for establishing video-conferences, audio conferences and also for conducting meetings and seminars.

In order to establish a conference call, a person dials a special number provided by the service provider who has a teleconference bridge setup in the network. The special number is traced by the service provider's system and the call request is then redirected to the teleconference bridge which then connects the lines. With advanced teleconference bridges, it is even possible to modify the properties of the conference call as advanced teleconference bridges are equipped with a number of features. With some advanced bridges, it's even possible to restrict the called party from taking part into the conference as advanced teleconference bridges have the option to establish the conference calls in which the called party is allowed only to listen to the calling party.

Teleconference bridges are even used for establishing private meetings and for this, members who are allowed to take part in the conference are provided with a special number which they need to dial in order to join the conference.
