How do I Uninstall AlmightySearch?

The AlmightySearch Trojan is a famous Trojan, but it is quite easy to tackle. Note that you should follow these steps in order. AlmightySearch Trojan may be erased in Step 1 or Step 3, depending on the user and how severely the computer is affected by the AlmightySearch Trojan and potentially other Trojans.

Before going on, note that if the steps are not exactly followed, you could potentially be hurting your computer. Tech-FAQ does not take any responsibility in this.

Step 1

  1. First, click Start, Run, and type regedit.
  2. In the Regedit, find and delete the following entry:

    3. HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftware MicrosoftInternet ExplorerURLSearchHooks

Step 2

  1. If the above step was insufficient, again, click Start, Run, and type regedit
  2. You must find the registry:

    3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE MicrosoftInternet ExplorerMain

  3. At the folder Main, look for a file named Search Bar on the right.
  4. If there is no file called Search Bar, right click the folder MAIN and select New, then String Value. Name this new file Search Bar.
  5. Now, right click on Search Bar and click Modify.
  6. Type http://www.google.com into the Value Data.
  7. Close Regedit and restart your computer for the AlmightySearch to be deleted.

Step 3

  1. If AlmightySearch is still in your browser as the homepage or as a toolbar option, click Start and then Control Panel.
  2. Click on the Add / Remove Programs icon.
  3. Find the program AlmightySearch and remove or uninstall it.

Step 4

  1. Click Start and then Search.
  2. Set the options so that you will be searching for files and folders. Also set your search boundaries as My Computer.
  3. Now, search for AlmightySearch.
  4. Permanently delete every folder named AlmightySearch or file named AlmightySearch.

Step 5

  1. Use any spyware search utility like Adaware or Spybot: Search & Destroy to search for AlmightySearch Trojan.
  2. Delete it when found.

Blocking AlmightySearch

Now, you should never visit AlmightySearch (www.almightysearch.com) again. To do this, follow the following steps if you are using Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.

Blocking in Internet Explorer

  1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools, and then Internet Options.
  2. In the Privacy tab, click Sites, and add the URL www.almightysearch.com and click Block.
  3. Click Ok and exit.

Blocking in Mozilla Firefox

  1. In Mozilla Firefox, click Tools, and then Options.
  2. Click Content tab and select Second Exceptions.
  3. Add the URL www.almightysearch.com and click Block.
  4. Click Ok and exit.
