Microsoft automatically installs Windows Messenger and also makes it very difficult to uninstall Windows Messenger.
Microsoft does this by hiding Windows Messenger from the Add or Remove Programs dialog.
It is possible to uninstall Windows Messenger with one complex command.
Steps to Uninstall Windows Messenger
- Click the <Start> button
- Click <Run>
- Enter the command "RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove"
- Click the <OK> button
- Click <Yes> to restart your computer
Disable Windows Messenger
Alternatively, instead of uninstalling Windows Messenger, you can also disable Windows Messenger.
