What is rubber hose cryptology?

Rubber hose cryptology (more accurately, rubber hose cryptanalysis) is the process of extracting encryption keys from a user through the motivating use of a rubber hose.

The process traditionally begins by tying the user to a post. You then strike the user with the rubber hose until he tells you the password or passphrase.

Rubber hose cryptanalysis is the fastest method for key recovery from secure crypto systems.

In modern parts of the globe, the rubber hose is usually replaced with a subpeona or a search warrant.
