What is HRTF?
HRTF stands for Head-Related Transfer Functions.
HRTF is a series of algorithms utilized to synthesize simulated binaural (stereo) signals from a monaural source.
HRTF algorithms achieve this by manipulating four variables in the sound:
- Distance (Near/Far)
- Azimuth (Left/Right)
- Elevation (Up/Down)
- Frequency
HRTF can significantly enhance the listening experience when used with headphones.
