    8. “Portal” for PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows

Sometimes a good puzzle is all you need to really enjoy a game. “Portal” is a puzzle game, but it’s so much more than that too. In the game you play a girl who wakes up as a test subject. During the game you have to solve mind-binding puzzles using a portal gun. It is the use of this portal gun that makes this puzzle game so unique. This is also the same game that started the companion cube fad that is so popular among girl gamers. If you really enjoy this game, be sure to check out the sequel, “Portal 2.”

Girls do like these games though, at least I do. You girls are saying that you like Bioshock and Titanfall but the sales don’t reflect that.
Other girls: we play COD, playstation, elder scrolls, etc! We like the boy games too! We don’t like the wii or other casual games!!!

Oh really? That’s why 80% of primary console owners chose the wii? That’s why more women play casual games then men? That’s why women tend to play big fish games and the sims instead of gta and WoW?

Stop it! We prefer different games. I like a mixture of both, except sports and shooters, so I’m not being biased. I’m a female as well, that recognizes that men and women on average like different games.

Having said that though, this article was terrible. Girls are more likely to enjoy gender neutral games, then the girly games.

Thanks for assuming girls are only interested in casual handheld games, apart from Portal. How about deleting this insult of an article and writing a real article that has games like Bioshock and Skyrim instead.

This article is incredibly insulting. Most games are mentioned because they have a dating or relationship aspect or because they allow you to start a family. Most are life simulators because that’s all girls care about right. Other games are included because they have easy or casual modes perfect for the busy gamer. This sentence is the one that really bugs me:

“and girl gamers will find that the chibi-like characters are super cute”

Really, does the author think that’s why women play video games for the cute characters. Maybe, just maybe we play video games for the same reasons as men because they’re fun, There’s so much talk about video game companies needing to reach out the the female sales decographic what they fail to realise is that they already have us. Just keep making good games and we’ll keep playing. You don’t need to keep separating us out when you talk about gamers, why do we have to be girl gamers can’t we just be gamers.

What the heck, guys! Woman here, more importantly long time gamer; would probably not be interested in MOST of the above, I prefer ‘boy’ games shockingly. Either I need gender reassignment or the writer should definitely avoid work in game marketing and stick to exploiting sweeping generalizations for articles like a good derp!

Seriously, if it’s accepted that women can like any films and books, what is this weird phenomena where we’re not supposed to like games with [insert little naughty fairy giggle here] guns and violence too. It might come as a bit of a shock, but we’re people too and our tastes aren’t THAT alien, in fact they’re as varied as yours. We know a good game when we see one. What about the guys that like this genre too?

How uncomfortable does this type of thinking make them feel?

Just keeeeeeep spreading the misconceptions guys, do us proud! -.-‘

Wow Im surprised by all the chibi/moe game charachters/titles on this list. I guess I agree with Hakuoki being on this list but the majority of the others seemed somewhat forced. You’d think they would add games with female protagonist like “Remeber Me” on this list, oh well!

Apart from a cameo appearance of Portal, this should be “9 Nintendo games for girl gamers”
