The arrival of the second Star Trek series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, brought with it a new wave of predictions about future technologies. Still well ahead of its time in 1987, TNG showed a universe where everyone had access to a small, ultra-powerful computer tablet. TNG in fact got the prediction so right that it also predicted the actual consumer name of the device fairly closely: the PADD.
