    8. Consider Installing an SSD Startup Drive

If you work in a set location on a desktop or laptop, then consider installing an SSD (solid-state startup drive) on your computer. Not only will the Operating System (OS) start more quickly, but the drive can be used to help load and run heavyweight application. When connected to the computer via USB 3.0 connection, applications that require a large amount of storage will also see a boost in performance. Before purchasing a drive; however, make sure that the specific make and model will support the version of OS being run on the target computer and do not save money on the USB connection as this will result in a performance bottleneck.
