People who identify as either a nerd or a geek (or sometimes both) may have very diverse interests but a large overlap of these interests are events such as Comic-Con. In general, nerds may be seen LARPing more often than cosplaying, whereas geeks tend to do the latter. Nerds tend to be more interested in escaping everyday life by reading books, playing video games, participating on Second Life, playing Dungeons & Dragons, or board games like chess. A geek may have stronger interests in film, hacking, and using/creating new gadgets. Typical interests between both may be comic books, Lord of the Rings, and Star Trek (but nerds are more commonly interested in such concepts).
