    9. How People Describe Them

In high school, nerds and geeks both tend to have many negative connotations. In college and beyond, both seem to viewed as more positively as knowledgeable groups of people. Both are viewed as people who will reach great success with their interests due to their high intelligence but geeks tend to be more socially acceptable. For example, 31% of people believe geeks are more likely to be successful. Nerds are normally shown as people who don’t fit into social norms and obsess over their diverse interests. Geeks, due to their more extroverted nature, are shown as people who are able to easily discuss their passions and beliefs. As people grow older, these groups tend to be more greatly appreciated.
