One of the earliest online schools of this type is Codecademy.com, also completely free, and allowing you to learn in an interactive and fun way. The format is different, less like child’s play, but very easy to follow. For example, if you opt to learn HTML you get to build the homepage of a real company like AirBNB, learning how that’s done.
You’re guided step by step, and encouraged to write as you go along, and see the effects of your code immediately. As you progress you earn badges, and you can also see your progress level for each course on the dashboard when you log in.
Besides HTML and CSS Codecademy can also teach you JavaScript, JQuery, Python, Ruby, PHP, and the use of APIs.
