7. You compulsively check Facebook, even when among people
Naturally, if you’re a bit addicted to Facebook, or social attention you get through it, you can by extension develop a compulsion to keep checking it. And that turns into a whole issue all of its own when you already ARE in a social situation, with real people around you!
It’s a well known thing. You’ve probably seen videos floating around about people staring at their smartphone and not paying attention to the person sitting right in front of them. It’s strange when a social network actually ends up making us anti-social, and succeeds at this by using our social nature! What a mess!
In short, if you’re among people, get your head off that screen! There’s a real person in front of you, and (s)he can do a lot more for you than cause a notification to pop up.

Well said. I don’t like the connotation of stalking as well. People post things publicly, it’s fair game, anyone can read it.
